How to organise your semester abroad
As a freemover, you must organise your semester abroad independently, outside of traditional exchange programmes. This allows you to study at any university, even without an official partnership. The PROMOS scholarship provides financial support for up to 3 months, and longer stays are possible with additional scholarships or self-funding. The key is to ensure that your time abroad is in line with both your academic goals and your personal development.

This is how your funding works
The PROMOS scholarship provides support for study abroad outside the Erasmus+ programme, allowing you to spend a semester at a university either outside Europe or at a European institution without an Erasmus+ agreement. Depending on your destination, you'll receive between EUR 350 and EUR 550 per month for up to 3 months, plus a one-time mobility grant.
This is how you can apply
Submit your complete application documents in English via email to promos@mobile-university.de by the specified deadline.
- Curriculum Vitae in tabular form
- Current certificate of enrolment from SRH Fernhochschule
- Current overview of academic achievements
- Letter of motivation (approx. 1-2 pages) or motivation video
- Concrete description of the planned stay abroad (study visit or language course, country, city, name of the institution, duration, relevance to studies)
- Proof of language proficiency
- Letter of recommendation from a professor or university lecturer at SRH DLU from the applicant's field of study
These are your application deadlines:
- Start of the stay between 1 January - 30 June: November 30 of the previous year
- Start of stay between 1 July - 31 December: June 30 of the same year
