Implemented measures, projects & achievements
Enhancing access to sustainability literature
To expand access to sustainability literature for our students and faculty, we have made 30 new academic journals available in our online libraries and published them in the relevant programme folders on the e-campus.
Additionally, a list of 160 available monographs from the Springer Link online library has been compiled and added to the relevant programme and module folders.
Promoting research in the field of sustainability
To encourage sustainability as a focus in student Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, we revised the list of all completed theses, significantly expanding and supplementing the sustainability section in collaboration with the examination service, and made it accessible to students.
Promoting network-based research in sustainability
To advance network-based research in sustainability, SRH Fernhochschule – The Distance Learning University, in collaboration with several SRH sister universities and partners, submitted two grant applications to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Promoting publications in the field of sustainability
In order to sensitise, inform and inspire as many people as possible about sustainability, the SRH Fernhochschule – The Distance Learning University held its Sustainability Congress "Management for Sustainability" on April 21-22, 2023. The event featured keynote speeches by Dr. Auma Obama (Auma Obama Foundation), Prof. Andreas Löschel (2022 German Economics Prize recipient), and Lars Kröplin (Lufthansa Head of Sustainability). Over 350 participants engaged in exciting workshops and presentations on ecological, economic, and social sustainability topics.
A congress volume, featuring 17 papers, was produced during the event and will be published by Springer Verlag in 2024.
Following the theme "Management for Sustainability," the second Sustainability Congress took place on April 19-20, 2024. This event gathered numerous enthusiasts, students, and experts from academia and industry to collaborate on solutions, foster exchange, and lay the foundation for a sustainable future.
More than 25 specialized seminars, led by distinguished speakers, offered valuable insights and best practices for implementing sustainable strategies. Noteworthy keynotes by Günther H. Oettinger (President of EBS University of Business and Law, former EU Commissioner and Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg), Dr. Stefan Schmitz (Managing Director, Global Crop Diversity Trust), and Annahita Esmailzadeh (Author and Head of Customer Success Account Management - Chemicals & Energy, Microsoft) highlighted the congress. From informative lectures and interactive workshops to networking in the Metaverse, two days full of engagement and insights underscored that sustainability is not just a trend but an urgent necessity.
For us, the Sustainability Congress was more than just an event—it marked the beginning of an ongoing discussion for a more sustainable future.
